Project Overview: The project involved reclaiming 60 hectares of land adjacent to the existing Patrick terminal in order to provide additional capacity to the container terminal facility. 

Works Involved

  • The dredging and placement of about 8 million m3 of fill material from Botany Bay to create shipping channels and berth boxes. 
  • 1850m of additional wharf face for 5 extra shipping berths.
  • Dedicated road access to the new terminal area.
  • Additional rail sidings to provide rail access to the new terminal area. 
  • Rehabilitation and expansion of the nearby Penrhyn Estuary. 

Services Provided

  • Approximately 450 marine based CPTs in up to 20m of water.
  • Approximately 900 land based CPTs on loose and compacted sand.
  • Laboratory testing of marine grade rock protection products.
  • On-site inspections of the civil works and associated laboratory testing.
  • In-situ dynamic modulus testing using a Light Weight Falling Deflectrometer.
