Project Overview:
 A 32km dual carriageway upgrade of the Hume Highway between Tabletop and Woomargama in southern NSW.

Works Involved

The project consisted of 45kms of pavement including duplication next to the existing highway, upgrade of the existing highway and a section of new alignment to cut through existing farm land reducing the distance between Sydney and Melbourne. The project involved 2.4 million m3 of earthworks, associated drainage and the construction of 9 bridges.

Services Provided

  • Modern, containerised laboratory including mechanised compaction testing.
  • Compaction control, civil materials and concrete quality control testing.
  • Separate laboratory at Rockley Falls quarry for concrete and road base aggregates.
  • Preliminary materials testing and Q.A testing for independent off site quarries involved in production of certified road construction materials for the HHSA.
  • Q.A testing of material blasted and reconstituted on site for use in the road formation.
  • Implementation of accelerated reporting time assisting in the increased productivity and reduction of time related delays throughout the job.
